If you aren’t familiar with blogs and their impact on the internet and onlines business, then let me be the first to welcome you into the the 21st century! Blogs have grown from just a college kid or stay-at-home mom’s online diary to big business. When consumers are researching products to buy, they are increasingly turning to personal reviews on blogs. Blogs are easy to setup and just about anyone can create one of their own and start sharing their thoughts with the world. And we’re seeing that happen in record numbers!
Blogs are certainly not limited to individuals anymore. In recent years, companies have created blogs on their websites as a way of interacting more personally with people visiting their site. It’s an easy way to keep your website fresh and interactive with constantly updated content on your blog. It is interactive because blogs allow visitors to your site to comment on your posts and it solicits feedback from them, good or bad.
Two ways you can use the power of blogs (or “blogosphere” if you want to call it that) are:
1. First by creating a blog focused around a certain brand, a new service, some particular event coming up, or a new product. Once you’ve created this blog, you can keep it continually updated with useful information. If you operate a website already, you can make a prominent new section of that site to link to your blog so visitors see that it’s there and will check it out. The combination of making it known to your visitors/customers and keeping it continually updated will help you gain readership and will start to generate “buzz”
2. You’re not limited to your own efforts to promote your blog, however. That’s what’s so wonderful about the phenomenon of blogs! You can network with other bloggers to gain exposure to your own blog. If you are a company and you’re wanting to use your new blog to promote a new product, you might offer bloggers a free trial of that product in exchange for a featured review on their blog. If the blogger you’re partnering with has a following and reader base of their own already, you’ve just gained instant and quality exposure for your product. Of course this can backfire if the blogger agrees to do an honest review and then rips your product or website apart in that review. But you take the same risk with any website (Amazon, Digg, etc) giving good or bad reviews. The difference is you’re not waiting for exposure to happen; you’re going out and getting it!

(www.wordpress.org). If you are just looking for something easy that requires no back-end setup so you can quickly get writing, then the most popular blogging platform is still Blogger.com (www.blogger.com) Both are free but Blogger.com is hosted and you just sign-up for an account and started creating your blog.
