Mandy Questions And Answers On Blogging With Wordpress

Mandy asks…

Is there a blog program like WordPress MU with plugin Shopping Cart for the end users?

I am looking for a blogging type program like wordpress which has a shopping cart program for my users. I need it to handle multiple users like wordpress mu with shopping cart plug ins, each user account must look like a stand alone site (except for the e-ddress). We like WPMU, but we could use more options and would like to test out other programs before we commit.

Thank you,
~e

Rachel Questions And Answers On Blogging With Wordpress

Rachel asks…

What is the best blogging site for this need? ( read below)?

I need a site that is a great blogger ( I really enjoy WordPress and categorization type blogs) that can allow me to make about 100+ blogs. These blogs are just based on different cities with different content. I am looking for a blog that can do this. Money isn’t a problem up to $40 per month. Bandwidth will be an issue but I would like to get to the bridge first.

All suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Wetpaint.com is an easy blog website. You can put images and a lot in there. Also categories can be done really easily. You can also have people do some work for you like they do for wordpress. I think this is easier then wordpress so you can do this just fine.

Graham Questions And Answers On Blogging With Wordpress

Graham asks…

Any views on typepad for blogging?

Hi I’ve moved this as I think it was in the wrong place!

After much deliberations, I’ve narrowed down my blogging tools (sorry I don’t know what to call it tool? platform?) and decided to go with typepad as I’ve read with typepad it’s easy to put advertising on your blog, whereas wordpress don’t like advertising. Does anyone have any opinions on typepad or other services? Good or bad. Bearing in mind I do at some point want advertising on the blog. I would rather pay a small monthly fee then end up with something I don’t want…
Thanks all.

There is WordPress.com which doesn’t currently allow ads and then there is WordPress.org “installed” where you can completely customize the experience including having ads.

Although I call it installed, there are a lot of hosting companies that install it for you with only a few mouse clicks including the ones listed at http://wordpress.org/hosting/

There are a huge number of themes and plugins for WordPress.

But I’m biased, I’m a WordPress developer.

Hope that helps,
Lloyd

John Questions And Answers On Blogging With Wordpress

John asks…

What is the best blogging platform?

Can you tell me which one is the best blogging tool?
Is it blogger-beta or wordpress.com or TypePad? Dont miss LiveJournal or VOX. A hosted moveable type will also be good.

My requirement is an AD free blogging service with lot of features. Well, I will prefer a free solution rather than a paid one.

In my Opinion, Blogger Beta is the best.
And wordpress is in second place.

Elizabeth Questions And Answers On Blogging With Wordpress

Elizabeth asks…

When I post online, do I leave ANY identifying information?

If I use standard blogging sites (WordPress, blogspot), or sign up for a dating site, or am involved with a discussion forum, or build a website (like at tripod.com), or use twitter, or post comments to blogs, newspapers, websites, etc., do I leave any “information” behind that will allow that website to be tied to me? An IP address? Any kind of tie to a computer that I own? Anything? How about if I do not actually POST, but just visit or download or chat, but leave nothing permanent (like a post, picture, etc.)?

If so, how can I post to blogs, for instance, and NOT leave any information behind?

I am assuming, for the purpose of this question, that I have not INTENTIONALLY left behind any information about me (signed my real name, location, etc.).

The hardest thing to hide is your IP, but you can be hidden using something called a ‘Proxy’.
You can find them online easily, and there are some sites which use a random one.

You can also use a disposable mail box which means no signing up for an email.

Just watch out for flash, or java, as that can still see your details.
